Why is it important to talk about your personal experiences especially the uncomfortable ones?

Why write and talk about personal experiences? Because as Rick tells Ilsa in Casablanca : “I’m no good at being noble, but it doesn’t take much to see that the problems of three little people don’t amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. Someday you’ll understand that.” In my end bullying Superhero story I tell kids: “Even though it feels like it… you are not alone. Think about it. If 3 million kids are being bullied that’s 3 million kids who understand what you’re going through.” And millions of women experience domestic abuse/bullying and millions of kids witness it. Why talk about the uncomfortable topics? Because the problems of a single person don’t amount to a hill of beans but this world IS crazy. Why? Because it’s not just a single person’s problem – a single bean – it’s millions! That’s NOT a hill that’s a mountain range. Why share? Because a silent single voice that finally speaks can help someone who’s silently hurting and reading this know: YOU ARE NOT ALONE. YOU MATTER. YOU ARE LOVED.
